Scope of work

In order to consolidate its strong presence on the Welsh market, the customer Morgan Advanced Materials had started a project for the development and construction of high-tech and innovative systems, aimed at the production of components for the transmission of energy for railway and electric trams.

We have been asked for support to help the customer meet the conformity of their highly innovative system for the technology used, respecting the requirements of the Machinery Directive and the European directives involved.

The request also provided for the development of a maintenance plan for the assets following implementation and the verification of the proper functioning and compliance of the plant.

The results

The proposed project was based on the timely application of the Machinery Directive to provide a guarantee from the design and construction point of view of the plant.

The goal was to ensure the verification, understanding and application of mechanical, electrical, instrumental and automation requirements, in addition to the control directives for the entire plant.

We took care of the visits to the sites during the commissioning phases and analyzed the various technical documents provided (project, plant risk analysis, supplier data book), in order to carry out a gap analysis according to CE standards and support management of the various project follow-ups.

We have also carried out detailed inspections to verify the correct implementation by the customer of the required actions, up to complete compliance with the requirements of the directive.

Finally, we have supported the customer’s resources in understanding the requirements, in order to ensure proper satisfaction of the directives.
